First Order ATAT Driver

A few months back my boss hit me up with a fun challenge to model something i hadn't previously known existed. The first order ATAT driver is not something seen in the movies but my assumption is it was created for the Rise of the Resistance rides. The best (and only) reference i had was the Hasbro toy released of this. Armed with a couple quicky shot cellphone pictures I got to work on the model. I began the initial Block out in maya and went through several iterations before finishing up in Zbrush. But what is a cool helmet without the full set of armor? Using a set of First Order Pilot armor produced by my boss, I scanned the armor, and built the Chest and Rear boxes for the suit.

The Helmet was split into several pieces so it could be printed on FDM and SLA printers. The nose was removable so the mesh grill could be added separately.

In the shop, I used my 3D scanner to digitize the armor to then build the chest and Rear box of the Pilot.

The Chest and Rear box were designed using a mix of fusion 360 and maya. Interesting fact, The chest box is based off of a tie pilot while the rear box is based off of that of an x wing pilot.

When i arrived at the shop the pieces were sitting in a box which i promptly (without asking) began assembling and sanding.

After an hour i had the entire helmet rough sanded.
